Pie Graph – Problems & Solutions
Problems and Solutions
Percentage wise distribution of players who play four different games are given in below pie graph and total number of players are 1200.
Example1: What is the total number of players who play cricket and rugby?
Solution: Total number of players are 1200,
Percentage of players who play cricket = 12%
Percentage of players who play rugby = 13%
Percentage of players who play both cricket and rugby = 12% + 13%
= 25%
Total number of players who play cricket and rugby = 25% of 1200
= (25/100)x1200
= 25 x 12
= 300
Therefore, 300 players play both cricket and rugby.
Example 2: What is the difference between number of players who play football and hockey?
Solution: Total number of players are 1200,
Percentage of players who play football = 50%
Percentage of players who play hockey = 25%
Difference of percentage of players who play both football and hockey = 50% – 25%
= 25%
so, the difference in players who play football and hockey = 25% of 1200
= (25/100)x1200
= 25 x 12
= 300
Therefore, difference between players play both football and hockey is 300.
Example 3: What is the total number of players who play football and hockey?
Solution: Total number of players are 1200,
Percentage of players who play football = 50%
Percentage of players who play hockey = 25%
Percentage of players who play both football and hockey = 50% + 25%
= 75%
Total number of players who play football and hockey = 75% of 1200
= (75/100)x1200
= 75 x 12
= 900
Therefore, 900 players play both football and hockey.
Example 4: What is the difference between number of players who play hockey and rugby?
Solution: Total number of players are 1200,
Percentage of players who play hockey = 25%
Percentage of players who play rugby = 13%
Difference of percentage of players who play both hockey and rugby = 25% – 13%
= 12%
so, the difference in players who play hockey and rugby = 12% of 1200
= (12/100)x1200
= 12 x 12
= 144
Therefore, difference between players play both hockey and rugby is 144.
Example 5: The data on religion wise division of a group of students are given below.
Draw a pie chart to represent the above data.
Solution:
1. Draw a circle of any convenient radius.
2. Draw a horizontal radius of this circle.
3.Starting from this radius draw sectors whose central angles are 100, 75, 35, 420 and 30 degree, respectively.
4. Now shade the sectors with different colors and label each as shown in the figure below.
