Lines of symmetry in an Isosceles Triangle

An isosceles triangle has 1 line of symmetry.

An isosceles triangle is one that has two sides that are the same length. The triangle has two equal interior sides. Only if a triangle has two equal sides can it be called to be isosceles.

Below figure shows lines of symmetry in an isosceles triangle.

Therefore, every isosceles triangle by definition has 1 line of symmetry. We can draw it by connecting the vertex of two equal sides and the halfway point of the other side.

An isosceles triangle therefore has a single line of symmetry.

A shape may have more than one line of symmetry depending on its angles and the lengths of each side.
