Multiplication and division of Ratios

If we multiplying or dividing the numerator and denominator by same number, we get same values.

 Suppose a ratio is 6:4 or 6/4

we multiply numerator and denominator by 2.

                         6×2/4×2 = 12/8 = 3/2

                                6/4 = 3/2

now we dividing numerator and denominator by 2.

                         6÷2/4÷2 = 3/2

The ratios 12/8 and 6/4 are same in lowest form.

  one more example-

 Suppose a ratio is 15:18 or 15/18

we multiply numerator and denominator by 2.

                  15×2/18×2 = 30/36 = 5/6

15/18 is same as ratio of 5/6

                            15/18 = 5/6

now we dividing numerator and denominator by 3.

                           15÷3/18÷3 = 5/6

The ratios 15/18 and 30/36 are same in lowest form.

so we can say that, If we multiplying or dividing the numerator and denominator by same number, we get same values.
