Even Numbers – Properties and List of Even Numbers
Even Numbers: Definition, Example, Properties and List of Even Numbers from 1 to 1000
Definition: If we divide any integer by 2, and remainder is zero, we get an even number.
Simply, If any integer divide exactly by 2, is an even number.
The last digit of even numbers is 0, 2, 4, 6, 8.
Example: 12, 10, 24, 36, 58, all are even numbers.

Properties of Even Numbers
Addition: (1) The addition of two even numbers always gives an even number, i.e., the sum of two even numbers is always an even number.
Example: 8 (even) + 6 (even) = 14 (even)
(2) The sum of an even number and an odd number is an odd number.
Example: 8 (even) + 7 (odd) = 15 (odd)
(3) The sum of two odd numbers is an even number.
Example: 9 (odd) + 7 (odd) = 16 (even)
Subtraction: The difference between two even numbers always gives an even number, i.e., When an even number is subtracted from other even number, the result is always an even number.
Example: 12 (even) – 4 (even) = 8 (even)
The difference between two odd numbers is an even number.
Example: 17 (odd) – 9 (odd) = 8 (even)
Multiplication: (1) Multiplication of two even numbers always gives an even number.
Example: 10 (even) x 6 (even) = 60 (even)
(2) Multiplication of an even number and an odd number always gives an even number.
Example: 6 (even) x 5 (odd) = 30 (even)
Division: Even number is divisible by two, and leaves remainder zero.
Example: 38 (even) ÷ 2 (even) = 19 and remainder will be zero.
Even and odd number properties
1. Addition property of even and odd numbers.
Operation | Example | Result |
Even + Even | 6 + 4 = 10 | Even |
Even + Odd | 8 + 5 = 13 | Odd |
Odd + Even | 9 + 14 = 23 | Odd |
Odd + Odd | 7 + 5 = 12 | Even |
2. Subtraction property of even and odd numbers.
Operation | Example | Result |
Even – Even | 24 – 18 = 6 | Even |
Odd – Odd | 17 – 7 = 10 | Even |
3. Multiplying property of even and odd numbers.
Operation | Example | Result |
Even x Even | 4 x 8 = 32 | Even |
Even x Odd | 8 x 7 = 56 | Even |
Odd x Even | 3 x 10 = 30 | Even |
Odd x Odd | 5 x 7 = 35 | Odd |
