Factor Tree – Factoring with the Factor Tree
Definition:
A factor tree is a tool where we try to find the factors of a number, then the factors of those numbers, until we can’t factor any more.
The ends will all the prime factors of the original number.
Before we move to detail about factor trees, we need to know about factors.
What is a Factor
A number break up into another numbers that can be multiplied together and get original number.
For example: 3 x 6 = 18, therefore, 3 and 6 are the factors of 18.
But , we can also say that 9 x 2 =18, 1 x 18 = 18. so 18 has six factors 1, 2, 3, 6, 9 and 18.
