Proper Fraction and Improper Fraction – Difference

In this tutorial we learn difference between a proper fraction and an improper fraction.

A “Proper Fraction” is a fraction whose numerator is smaller than it’s denominator. A “Improper Fraction” is a fraction whose numerator is equal to or greater than it’s denominator.
Examples: 2/9, 3/7 and 1/8 are a proper fractions.Examples: 7/6, 8/5 and 9/4 are a improper fractions.
The value of a proper fraction is always less than 1. The value of a improper fraction is always greater than or equal to1.
