Geometry Introduction

Geometry comes from the Greek meaning “Earth measurement”.

Geometry is a branch of mathematics, and concerned with visual study of shapes, sizes, properties and patterns.

A mathematician who works in the field of geometry is called a Geometer.

Geometry can be divided into:

1. Plane geometry

2. Solid geometry

1. Plane geometry

In plane geometry we study about, flat shapes like lines, circles, triangles and polygons. Shapes that can be drawn on a piece of paper.

2. Solid geometry

In solid geometry we study about, three dimensional objects like cubes, prisms, cylinders and spheres.
